Tropical wave to bring showers, gusty winds

Heavy showers are expected to begin on Sunday night and continue until Monday afternoon, as a tropical wave approaches Trinidad and Tobago.

The Meteorological Service (Met Office) in a weather alert issued on Sunday noted that adverse weather conditions are possible over Trinidad from 8 pm.

Citizens are advised that intense rainfall may result in street or flash flooding in susceptible areas, and may be accompanied by damaging gusty winds.

The Met Office attributed current weather conditions to the passage of a tropical wave, interacting with the ITCZ ( Inter Tropical Convergence Zone).

Parts of Trinidad are already experiencing heavy showers.

Citizens are urged to carefully monitor weather conditions before venturing outside.

Meanwhile, the Met Office in its three-day weather outlook noted that there is a high concentration of Saharan Dust in the atmosphere. It has advised those with allergies or respiratory ailments to take necessary precautions.
