T&T and China to tighten ties

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Song Yumin, met with the Minister of Communications Donna Cox.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Song Yumin, met with the Minister of Communications Donna Cox.

Trinidad and Tobago and China are working towards mutual areas of training and communications.

This follows a meeting with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Song Yumin and Minister of Communications, Donna Cox on Monday.

During the courtesy call at the Ministry, the Ambassador said he welcomed any ideas for cooperation because China wants to open its doors to the rest of the world.

Yumin explained that China already works with the Government in several areas.  He believes the two countries are complementary.

Minister Cox thanked the Ambassador for his interest in the Ministry of Communications and repeated the Government’s intention to ensure the country’s population is informed and empowered through communications.

“We have a long history of cooperation and we look forward to working together, leveraging opportunities offered by the Chinese Embassy and of course, closer bilateral relationships,” Minister Cox said.
