T&T double World Championship medalist signs with Adidas
Trinidad and Tobago track athlete Jereem Richards has signed his first professional contract with athletic clothing and footwear giant Adidas.
Richards is a two-time medallist who helped Trinidad and Tobago win gold in the 4x400m relay at the IAAF 2017 World Championships. He also won bronze in the 200m race at the same event.
Taking to Instagram to reveal the news on Tuesday, Richards thanked his friends and family for their continued support.
“I’d like to thank my family and friends and everyone for supporting me this year, without you all it would not be possible. I’m ready to start a new leaf in my life right now and I’m ready to announce that I’ve signed a professional contract with Adidas,” he said.
A host of followers congratulated the track athlete including Tobagonian track and field sprint athlete Kelly-Ann Baptiste.
Richards started his career as a 400m athlete making his debut on the international stage in 2012, where he won bronze in the 4x400m at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Istanbul with teammates Lalonde Gordon, Renny Quow and Jarrin Solomon. In the same year, he won bronze in the under 20 4x400m race in Barcelona.
He also traveled as an alternate for the 4x400 at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games but did not compete.
