Trinidad and Tobago has recorded a new COVID-19 case, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 117.

This is the first positive case in over 30 days.

Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh made the announcement during a live interview on TTT on Saturday night.

"We have one new COVID-19 positive case. This is an imported case, a family of three that came in to the country late on Thursday evening."

Deyalsingh said the family was being quarantined at the Home of Football in Couva.

The announcement came mere hours after Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley announced the early start of Phase 3 of the reopening of the country.
