T&T rocked by 4.5 earthquake

A 4.5 earthquake was registered near Trinidad and Tobago just before midnight on Wednesday night.

According to the University of the West Indies (UWI) Seismic Research Centre, the earthquake was located just 12 kilometres west-south-west of Port of Spain.

Residents in various parts of Trinidad reported feeling two tremors, which the Centre said may have been two waves associated with the one event. 

This is the third earthquake to occur this week: On November 5 a 5.7 earthquake was recorded about 68 kilometres north of Tobago, and on November 6 a 4.2 earthquake was recorded about 61 kilometres north-east of Arima.

The earthquake was registered by the Centre's seismological computational system and may vary when additional data is processed.
