TTCG: Missing fishermen found safe
The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard said a fishing vessel with two people were found after going missing earlier this week.
In a statement dated November 7, 2019 and issued November 8, 2019, the TTCG said while they were carrying out a patrol exercise on November 6, they were approached by a pirogue called ‘Honesty’, which was captained by Devon Samaroo, accompanied by two other occupants.
The TTCG said they were told that they lost contact with a vessel named ‘Born Fifth’ and two occupants, shortly after they left port.
The TTCG said they immediately began coordinating resources for a search and rescue operation to locate the missing vessel and its occupants.
The TTCG said however around 7.24 pm Samaroo contacted the TTCG to say that the missing vessel was found and had been towed to Chaguaramas and then onto Othaeite Bay.
All occupants aboard the vessel were safe, the TTCG said.
The Coast Guard said they continue to maintain the safety and security of citizens through the conduct of maritime security patrols within their area of operations.
