TTDF investigating 'overpayments' to staff members

The Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) said it is investigating the discovery of 'significant and unusual overpayments' to several staff members who have been identified.

In a statement, the TTDF said internal auditors have undertaken work on the matter, which has also been reported to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), which is also engaged in an investigation into the matter.

The TTDF said the investigation was launched based on instructions issued by Acting Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Captain (N) Hayden Pritchard.

The investigation is the result of ongoing improved auditing functions within the TTDF.

“The TTDF commends its internal auditors on the work undertaken in this matter to date and reconfirms its commitment to driving the continued improvement of the organisation whilst being ever mindful of the need for care and caution in due process,” the release said.
