TTPS braces for protests after second man killed by police in 7 days

For the second time in one week, a man was killed in Enterprise following a confrontation with police.

As a result, Central Division officers are bracing for protest action as residents of the area have already blocked roadways on two prior occasions when similar incidents occurred.

26-year-old Dillon Matthews was fatally shot on Wednesday morning along Mano Trace, Enterprise during a police operation. A firearm was reportedly recovered at his home.

One week ago, 23-year-old Keon Moore was shot and killed during another confrontation with police, this time along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway near the Children’s Hospital in Couva.

According to police, the 24-year-old exited the vehicle with a firearm in hand and shot at the lawmen.

LoopTT was told that Moore was killed when officers became fearful for their lives.

A firearm was allegedly recovered in the vehicle.

Since then, relatives claimed that Moore was executed by police and have denied that he would ever shoot at lawmen.

This led to fiery protests on two separate days.
