TTPS extends condolences after officer killed in motorcycle accident
The Commissioner of Police and Executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has extended condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of PC Leon Ramsey, who died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday morning.
According to reports, around 3am PC Ramsey, a motorcyclist attached to the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch, was returning to base in Aranguez after completing patrol duty on Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.
PC Ramsey was on the eastbound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in the vicinity of the Courts Megastore, El Soccorro in the company of motorcyclist PC Clark, when a pedestrian attempting to cross the highway came into his path.
The officer swerved in an attempt to avoid the pedestrian, picked up a skid and fell off his motorcycle, which collided with the unidentified pedestrian.
He was subsequently run over by an oncoming vehicle.
Both PC Ramsey and the pedestrian died at the scene.
PC Ramsey of Lange Park Chaguanas had approximately four years of service.
Police are now on the lookout for the silver motorcar that failed to stop after the incident.
