TTPS: Guns video did not originate in T&T, urges citizens to delete it

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is confirming that a video showing a large cache of guns was not captured in T&T.

In a release, the TTPS said while the video did not originate in T&T, the mischievous voice notes accompanying it was recorded locally.

"The TTPS deems reckless and responsible, the circulation of a video clip and several voice notes on social media intended to create public mischief and promote panic," the TTPS said in the release.

According to the release, Acting Commissioner of Police, Stephen Williams, is urging citizens to desist from producing the offending material and causing it to be circulated.  He is also appealing to anyone who comes into possession of the material to delete it.

Earlier today, Communications Minister Stuart Young also criticised the circulation of the video and voice notes, stating that people are trying to create panic, confusion and despair in the country.
