The Commissioner of Police and Executive of the Police Service (TTPS) have extended condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Cpl Gerard Richards who passed away at the Port of Spain General Hospital on Thursday.
51-year-old Richards was at his Gonzales home when he fell ill and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
He died at around 5 am on Thursday.
The officer had 27 years’ service in the TTPS and was attached to the North Eastern Division.
Cpl Richards was also previously attached to the Traffic Branch and Court and Process Branch.
He is survived by his two daughters and son.
Colleagues have described Cpl Richards as a “jovial, energetic and a helpful officer who is always passionate about the job.”
