Family members of a 13-year-old girl, who was found dead at her Beetham Gardens home on Tuesday, is receiving psychological support from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS).
The girl allegedly died by suicide.
In a statement, the TTPS said officers of the Victim and Witness Support Unit (VWSU), Port-of-Spain Division is currently providing counselling support to the child’s relatives during their grief and in transitioning through the understandable, difficult period ahead.
The Unit said it acknowledged that the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially the uncertainties of the crisis, can be very stressful on families.
It encouraged families to be mindful of the signs of stress and depression among children in particular and in adults as well.
The Unit added that its counselling support services remain accessible to all who require assistance in this time.
Should you or your relatives require counselling services, you are urged to contact the VWSU via telephone at 612-2577 or any other similar national agency throughout the country.
