TTPS to receive $60M more from Ministry of Finance
The Ministry of Finance will provide the police service with $60 million dollars for goods and services.
This brings the total for goods and services in 2019, so far, to $160 million.
Finance Minister Colm Imbert revealed this in a tweet on Tuesday.
He said he met with the Police Commissioner and his finance/accounting team on Monday, to sort out funding issues.
Imbert said the meeting was cordial and productive.
A meeting was held between the COP and Imbert, after the Minister told the Parliament on Friday, that his Ministry released roughly $1 billion to the TTPS to date.
In response, Griffith sought to clarify the figure. He explained that the majority of the $1 billion, $850 million, was dedicated to salaries. The rest went to paying debts from the previous year, with a $70 million balance from the 2017 to 2018 fiscal year.
The police commissioner also said that he had all the documents to prove that the TTPS did not receive the funds identified by the Finance Minister.
