TTPS warns against fake messages

Citizens are being warned to disregard false social media messages purporting to be from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) or the Ministry of National Security. 

The TTPS said in a social media post that no recent safety advisory was issued to the public and warned citizens against circulating unauthorised messages.

Members of the public are urged to disregard the latest mischievous WhatsApp message circulating where the intent is to disrupt the lives of ordinary citizens.The TTPS has not issued any recent safety advisory to the public nor has the Ministry of National Security.”

“Please Do Not circulate messages from unauthorized sources/persons but instead refer to the police  for verification and investigation as may be required.

The TTPS said all safety and/or security advisories will be issued via the media and their official social media pages.

Messages circulated via social media last week after protests in the Beetham area caused widespread traffic and panic among citizens.

The violence was said to the be connected to two persons of interest who were detained by the police on Thursday. The men were subsequently released
