Tv6 won't air PM interview, cites 'commercial obligations'
An interview with the Prime Minister which was conducted by CNC3's Khamal Georges at the request of the Prime Minister's office, will not air on Tv6.
The interview is expected to air on all major radio and television stations.
The television station said the interview was meant to be broadcast during prime time and would interfere with its commercial obligations.
However, comments by Communications Minister Donna Cox under a Facebook post explaining the station's reasons for not airing the interview suggest otherwise.
In response to the television station's claim that the interview would disrupt its commercial schedule, Cox hinted the issue was more to do with who conducted the interview over any commercial obligation.
Addressing claims about the production and editing of the interview, the Communications Minister said the questions were not furnished by the Prime Minister's office and Georges was free to ask any question he wished.
She assured that no questions were edited out.
"OPM requested the interview but Mr Georges was free to ask any question he wanted and NO questions were provided by the OPM for the interview.
In post production, no question was removed and no answer was removed or edited for content."
When contacted by Loop News, the Minister said she would issue an official response on Monday.
