Two arrested, guns seized in weekend exercises
Police exercises in the South Western and Central Divisions on Saturday led to the arrests of two men for gun and ammunition possession, as well as the seizure of two pistols, several rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana.
During an exercise conducted by officers of the Central Division Task Force between 9am and 9pm, a 31-year-old D’Abadie man was arrested for possession of a pistol and eight rounds of ammunition, while a 21-year-old Caroni man was arrested for possession of 48 grammes of marijuana.
The exercise was coordinated by Acting Snr. Supt, Inraj Balram and Acting ASP, Richard Smith.
Meanwhile, an exercise carried out by officers of the Gasparillo Police Station and Marabella CID between 10 am and 1:30 pm led to the discovery of a Sig Sauer pistol loaded with a magazine containing 13 rds of ammo.
Acting on information, the officers went to an abandoned piece of land along Union Road where they found the firearm. No arrest was made in connection with the find.
