Two arrested as man stabbed in neck during robbery

Two men are in police custody after a robbery in Arima yesterday afternoon in which one of the victims was stabbed. The injury, LoopTT was told, was not life threatening. 

The incident happened at about 3pm along Wallen Street, Arima. 

Police were told that a couple was standing along the roadway, when they were confronted by two men who announced a robbery. There was a brief confrontation during which the male victim was stabbed in the back of his neck. 

The suspects then stole a quantity of cash and a Samsung Cellular phone from the couple before fleeing the scene. 

The victims raised an alarm and officers of the Arima Police Station, led by Sgt Ali, and including PC Reid, PC George, PC Bernard, and PC Joseph, responded. 

The officers received intelligence which led them to La Chance Street, Arima. 

The two men were found in a bushy area off the roadway, hiding. The suspects, aged 21 and 19, from Maturita and Samaroo Village, respectively, were then taken to the Arima Police Station. 

Inquiries into this incident are continuing.
