Two arrested as pistol found hidden in car in Chaguanas

Two men were arrested and a pistol and a quantity of ammunition seized by officers of the Central Division, during an anti-crime exercise in the Chaguanas district yesterday.

The exercise, supervised by Acting Senior Superintendent Inraj Balram and Acting ASP Richard Smith was conducted between 11:00 am and 9:00 pm, on Wednesday.

During the exercise, the officers had cause to stop and search a brown coloured Mazda B2500 motor vehicle with two male occupants in the vicinity of Woodford Lodge Savannah, Chaguanas, around 8:30 pm.

The search resulted in one pistol outfitted with a magazine containing 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition being discovered hidden between the front seats.

The occupants of the vehicle; a 36-year-old man of Woodford Street, Chaguanas and a 32-year-old man of June Street, Couva, were arrested in connection with the find. 

The exercise included officers attached to the Central Division Task Force and Canine Unit.
