Two arrested in Tobago during protest

Two persons are expected to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate on Monday on allegations of staging a protest without permission from the Commissioner of Police.

The two are aged 28, from John John, Laventille, and 26, from Dundonald Hill, StJames.

They were both part of a protest which took place in Scarborough, Tobago on Friday, led by social media activist Kia Jadeana Hosein.

The group was calling on the Government to demit office.

Police said they warned the group several times to desist in their actions, however, members moved from the vicinity of the port to the market, and continued their actions.

After further warnings, the two individuals were arrested and subsequently charged.

They were released on station bail and informed of the need for their attendance to court on Monday.

More on this as it becomes available.
