Two Coast Guard officers among 7 held in 'COVID lime'

Seven persons, including two coast guard officers, were held on Saturday morning in Arima for breaching the Public Health Ordinance.

The seven were held during a police operation led by Sgt Ali.

Police said around 12.30 am, they received intelligence of a 'COVID-19 party' in Samaroo Village.

The officers made their way to the location given where they observed a group of persons liming near a car, which had music blaring.

The group, which consisted of over 13 persons were reminded of the stay-at-home orders in effect and was asked to disperse.

Police said the group adhered to the directives, and the officers left.

However, about an hour later, however, police received similar intelligence which led them back to the area.

The officers had cause to speak to a group again and detained seven individuals.

The operation also included PC George, PC Reid, PC Bernard, PC Pompey, PC Brown, and PC Joseph, among others.

More on this as it becomes available.
