Two Diego Martin men to appear in court for gun possession
A 21-year-old man was expected to appear before the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by Western Division officers.
Shaquille Hosein of Richplain, Diego Martin, was arrested during an anti-crime exercise in his hometown on November 16.
During the exercise, Western Division Task Force (WDTF) officers observed a man standing along Unity Road.
He attempted to run away when officers chased and subsequently caught and searched the suspect.
The search resulted in a Llama Max II pistol and 14 rounds of .45mm rounds of ammunition found in his possession.
Hosein was charged by PC Sahadath of the WDTF.
In a separate incident, a 27-year-old man of Richplain, Diego Martin, was arrested during an exercise held on November 21.
Jehlano Wilson was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition after officers discovered the items hidden under the seat of a white Nissan Almera which he was driving at the time.
He appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate on November 26 and was remanded into custody. The matter was adjourned to December 5.
Wilson’s charges were laid by acting Cpl Khan of the WDTF.
