Update: The two juveniles who escaped from the Youth Transformation and Rehabilitation Center (YTRC) at midday on Friday have been recaptured.
The two, ages 18 and 19, escaped lawful custody during recreational activities.
The Prison Service confirmed that three officers with the YTRC recaptured the escapees within an hour of them absconding from the institution, with officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service providing support.
A search is currently being done for two juveniles who escaped custody at the Youth Transformation and Rehabilitation Center on Friday.
From initial reports, subject to further updates, the two were among a group who were "airing out" at the Center in Arouca, when three of the young men saw an opportunity to escape.
Three of the detainees bolted and climbed barbed fencing in an effort to escape.
Prison officers raised an alarm and notified officers from the Arouca Police Station.
Within minutes, one of the escapees was held.
Police are currently on location in Arouca searching for the other two young men.
