Two held after Port of Spain drive-by shooting

Two persons have been held by police after a drive-by shooting in Port of Spain on Sunday morning.

According to a statement issued Monday by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), the two persons, along with a pistol, were seized after police recognised the vehicle in which they were travelling as one that had been involved in a drive-by shooting.

Officers of the Port of Spain Task Force, under the supervision of Insp. Randall McGuirk, intercepted a white Nissan AD motor vehicle with two male occupants, around 7:00 am on February 10, 2019, in the Sea Lots district.

The vehicle was reported to have been involved in a drive-by shooting incident along George Street, Port of Spain, around 5:00 am, on the same date. No injuries were reported in the incident.

A search of the vehicle resulted in a pistol loaded with an empty magazine being discovered.

The two suspects - a 27-year-old of Duncan Street, Port of Spain and a 26-year-old of Beetham Gardens - were arrested in connection with the find.

Investigations are ongoing.
