Two hospitalised after Point Fortin accident
Police are investigating an accident in Point Fortin which left two persons hospitalised on Sunday night.
The victims have been identified as 34-year-old Bernard Francis of Cap-de-Ville, Point Fortin, and 29-year-old Melanie Blackburn, of Salazar Trace, Point Fortin. According to police reports, at about 10.30 PM on Sunday, the victims were standing in the vicinity of the Frisco Roundabout, Point Fortin, when they were struck by a motorcycle.
Blackburn suffered a broken left leg, as well as several cuts and bruises. Francis suffered minor non-life threatening injuries such as cuts and abrasions to his skin.
They were both taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where they were treated. The driver of the motorcycle told police that he was attempting to maneuver the roundabout when he lost control of the bike, and it struck the man and woman.
