Two killed in highway accident

Two people are dead following an accident on the Uriah Butler Highway, near Charlieville on Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Shiraz Mohammed, the owner of Shaz Wrecking Service and Terrence Alleyne, a Customs and Immigration officer.

According to reports, Mohammed was assisting Alleyne on the shoulder of the highway with a flat tyre when they were struck by a station wagon.

Mohammed’s body was crushed against the tray of his tow truck, while Alleyne was thrown under the tow truck.

They were killed instantly.  

The driver of the station wagon is being questioned by police.
