Update: Two men killed by police stole goats, TV
Update March 31, 2019, 2:00 pm:
The two men who were killed by police on Friday morning following a robbery have been identified.
The deceased are David “Harry” Suchit and David “Diggies” Tavenier.
The men, police said, are both from Arima, and have criminal records.
They were killed at about 4:00 am on Friday in Freeport, having stolen nine goats and a flat-screen television from a home in Uquire Rd, Freeport.
Police were on mobile patrol in the area when they had cause to intercept the getaway car.
The men, police said, attempted to escape, and opened fire on the lawmen in the process.
In turn, the officers returned fire, leading to the two men being fatally shot.
In the vehicle, the officers found the nine animals and the television.
However, three of the animals died from being suffocated in the trunk.

Two men were said to have been killed on Friday during a confrontation with police in Freeport.
While information is still coming in, LoopTT was told the incident took place at about 4:00 am on Friday morning.
The deceased are yet to be identified.
Officers of the Central Division were said to be on patrol when upon reaching the vicinity of Fireburn Road, Freeport, they saw a vehicle which contained two men parked at the side of the roadway.
While attempting to intercept the car, the officers said they were greeted with gunfire.
The lawmen defended themselves and returned fire at their attackers.
In the aftermath, the two male occupants of the car were shot.
The officers involved did not sustain any injuries.
The wounded men were rushed to the Chaguanas District Health Facility, however, they succumbed to their injuries.
Investigations are continuing.
