Two killed in shootings in Arima, Carenage

Shootings in Arima and Carenage on Friday and Sunday respectively have claimed the lives of two men.

In the first incident, 27-year-old Raymond Maikoo of Building 10, Maloney Gardens was killed in a shooting in Arima on Friday night.

According to police reports, around 11.30 pm on Friday, Maikoo was seated in a van at Mottley Avenue, off Pinto Road, Arima, when he was shot at by gunmen.

Residents, on hearing gunshots, came out and found Maikoo bleeding from injuries to his neck and face.

He was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope, however, he succumbed to his injuries around 3.30 am on Saturday.

In the second incident, a 26-year-old man was killed in a shooting on Sunday morning.

While up to 9 am information was still coming in, LoopTT understands the deceased has been identified as Akeil Mitchell of Resurrection Hill, off Haig Street, Carenage.

Residents reported hearing explosions around 6 am on Sunday.

They later found Mitchell bleeding from multiple injuries. 

The police and paramedics were notified, however, Mitchell succumbed to his injuries.
