Two men arrested for gun, drugs, ammunition
Two men were arrested while a pistol and a quantity of drugs and ammunition were seized by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Besson Street and Barataria districts.
Officers attached to the IATF’s Charford Court Base and Canine Branch, carried out the exercise from 3:45 am to 7:30 am on Wednesday, where they executed several search warrants in the districts.
During the exercise, a search warrant was carried out at the Abdul Ghanny Street, San Juan home of a 35-year-old male suspect.
Officers discovered a pistol magazine loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition and 80 grammes of cocaine, concealed in a shoebox.
Officers proceeded to the home of a 26-year-old male suspect at George Street, Port of Spain, where one grinder containing a quantity of marijuana and 7 rounds of 9mm ammunition was found hidden inside a bedroom.
Both suspects were arrested and were conveyed to the Besson Street Police Station, pending charges. Enquiries are continuing.
The exercise was supervised by Sgt Hugh Elbourne.
