Two men arrested, high powered guns found in Diego Martin
Two men were arrested and several guns, including two AK-47 rifles were seized by officers of the Western Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise in the Diego Martin district on Wednesday.
Several pieces of camouflage, police operational clothing, a bulletproof vest, magazines, marijuana and ammunition were also discovered by the officers.
During the exercise, officers had cause to stop and search a 23-year-old Diego Martin man, at Riverside Road, La Puerta, which resulted in one Glock 17 pistol being discovered in his possession.
Shortly, after officers also stopped and searched a 41-year-old man also of Diego Martin, which resulted in one Glock 19 pistol and a quantity of marijuana being discovered inside a knapsack in his possession.
Both men were arrested in connection with the finds.
Officers then proceeded to an abandoned building in the district, where a search was conducted.
The search resulted in the two rifles, the shotgun, two magazines, 13 rounds of 12 gauge cartridges, 46 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a quantity of marijuana, the bullet-proof vest and the camouflage and operational clothing, being discovered hidden in the building and surrounding bushes.
The drug seized during the exercise weighed a total of one kilogramme and has a street value of $10,000.
