Two men beaten, robbed in car sale scam

Police are once again reminding citizens to be cautious when they are purchasing items through social media sites.

This comes after two men were beaten and robbed on Monday afternoon in La Romain by armed assailants.

The men, aged 21 and 27, both from Perseverance Village, Couva, went to London St, La Romain, to purchase a vehicle. The two were responding to an advertisement they saw on Facebook on a Nissan Tiida for sale.

However, on arrival at the said location, they were accosted by two men.

The victims were relieved of their cellular phones, as well as the $5000 downpayment they brought for the car.

The 27-year-old victim was beaten because he resisted.

The suspects then escaped.

PC Gosine has been appointed to oversee inquiries.
