Police were able to detain two men who were caught with firearms while parked in a car outside a local fast-food restaurant in Diego Martin.
The men were held by officers of the Western Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise which was carried out in the area on Tuesday.
According to a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), police acted on information received and saw the two men seated in a silver Nissan Tiida, parked at KFC on St Lucien Road, Diego Martin, armed with weapons.
Officers said they searched both occupants, ages 20 and 22, and found one Glock 17 pistol loaded with a magazine of 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition and one Glock 34 pistol loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition which was found in their possession.
Police arrested both men in connection with the finds.
The exercise was spearheaded by Superintendent Peter Dominique and supervised by Corporal Nicholas Nurse.
