Two men killed in Talparo identified
The two men who were killed in a shootout with police in Talparo on Friday afternoon have been identified as Anthony Johnson also known as Ricardo Cadogan.and Dion Caldon, 33.
Johnson, 41, was a cousin to 33-year-old Kadeem Welch, who was also killed in this incident.
A fourth man, said to be a businessman and the owner of the house, is currently in police custody aiding with inquiries.
The three men were killed in a shootout with police at 2 pm on Friday.
According to police reports, the shooting stemmed from a robbery which took place earlier that day.
A cigarette truck was robbed at about 10 am on Friday, just outside Papa James Mini Mart along Todd’s Road in Talparo. The truck had $80,000 worth of merchandise. A firearm belonging to a security guard at the café was also stolen.
Following the robbery, the suspects made their way to a house along Fitt’s Street, just off Todd’s Road.
Shortly after arriving, they were confronted by police who tailed them to the location.
A shootout ensued and three men were killed.
Two firearms were recovered at the house, as well as the stolen items.
Welch had an ongoing court matter for shooting at an officer identified as PC Hakeem Blake of the Eastern Division in 2016.
He also had 42 warrants for his arrest and is well-known to police for robbery and other offences.
