Two officers charged with stealing money from motorist

Two police officers who allegedly stole money from a motorist, appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate on Monday charged with misbehaviour in public office.

Twenty-seven-year-old Siddiq Hosein and 29-year-old Shazard Hosein stood before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie in the Chaguanas Magistrate Court.

According to reports, the two officers allegedly stole $2500 and US$1300 from Mohammed Khan during a stop and search exercise on August 18 in Cunupia.

The men were arrested last week and granted $100,000 bail by a Justice of the Peace.

The officers were also ordered to not contact the victim.

They will reappear in court on February 18.
