Two perish in separate accidents
Accidents along the Solomon Hochoy Highway and in Princes Town over the weekend have claimed the lives of two men.
A 34-year-old Venezuelan national was killed in a road traffic accident along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway.
The deceased has been identified as Jesus Valdarez who was living in Debe.
He was last employed as a maintenance technician in Marabella.
Police were told that around 11 pm on Friday, Valdarez was the front seat passenger in a Nissan Sunny, which attempted to merge back into the highway near the Macaulay exit.
The Sunny hit a Hyundai Tucson, which was proceeding south.
Valdarez died shortly after impact.
Police believe the accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver, who made a wrong turn by trying to merge back onto the highway from a one-way entrance.
Meanwhile, a 51-year-old man is dead following an accident in Princes Town.
The deceased has been identified as Nazmoon John, of St Croix Road, Princes Town.
According to police reports, around 2 pm on Saturday, John was a passenger in a vehicle which was proceeding west along the M1 Ring Road, when the driver of the car lost control and collided with a truck which was heading in the opposite direction.
During the impact, John suffered injuries to his head after he slammed into a speaker box which was located in the backseat.
He died at the scene.
The drivers of the two vehicles were both taken for medical treatment.
