Two police officers in court today on sexual offence charges

Two senior officers are expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate on Friday.

LoopTT was told that instructions were given by Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard SC to charge the two officers on Thursday.

The officers, a senior superintendent in the Central Division, and a superintendent in the Southern Division, will therefor answer the charges today.

The senior superintendent was charged with sexual harassment while the superintendent was charged with indecent assault.

The two charges, police said, are not linked, but did both allegedly occur during stints of both officers at the Chaguanas Police Station.

The two officers were taken into custody for questioning on Wednesday morning by PSB officers.

ACP (Ag.) Totaram Dookhie, of the Professional Standards Bureau, has overseen both investigations.
