Two shot dead in separate incidents on Friday night
Two men were shot dead in separate incidents in Carenage and Arouca on Friday night.
Around 8 pm, residents of L’Anse Mitan Road, Carenage heard loud explosions.
Upon investigating, they found 34-year-old Ronald “Blackie” Paul lying in a pool of blood behind a parked car.
He had been shot several times.
Police were notified but Paul succumbed to his injuries before they arrived.
The scene was visited by a team of officers from the Homicide Bureau and the Western Division led by Snr Sup Mark and included Inspector Bruno, Sgt Adams, Cpl Romeo, Cpl King, PC Charles, PC Jobe, and WPC Marcelin.
PC Scantubury is continuing inquiries.
Loud explosions were also heard in Waterloo Road, Arouca on Friday night.
Around 8:15 pm, residents investigating the source of the noise came across a man bleeding from multiple gunshot injuries.
They notified the police and paramedics, and the injured man was rushed to the Arima District Health Facility.
However, he succumbed to his wounds in transit and was pronounced dead on arrival at 8.25 pm.
The victim has since been identified as 31-year-old Jevon Paponette of Waterloo Road.
CSI officials recovered five spent shells from the scene.
