Two in Trincity bar robbery appear in court

The two men who were caught red-handed after they attempted to rob a bar in Trincity last week, have both plead guilty to firearm and ammunition possession, as well as robbery.

The accused, Jabari De Gannes, 20, and a 16-year-old young man (whose name has to be withheld because he is legally a minor) appeared before an Arima Magistrate this week.

They were both charged with two counts of robbery, and possession of a firearm and ammunition.

They both plead guilty to the charges.

De Gannes was sentenced to four years hard labour for the robbery charges, and three years of hard labour for the firearm and ammunition charges.

The 16-year-old is currently awaiting sentencing, as the court requested a probationer’s report first.
W-Cpl Vitlais was the complainant in the matter.

The robbery, which took place on the morning of August 23, at Pranky’s Bar along Cane Farm Junction, Trincity, was recorded on CCTV footage.

However, it was the aftermath of the robbery, during which patrons of the bar intercepted the two robbers and detained them, which was shared on social media and went viral.
