Two Venezuelan nationals charged with marijuana possession

Two Venezuelan nationals were arrested and charged for marijuana possession related offences during an anti-crime exercise in San Fernando on Friday.

Police several drug blocks were searched during the exercise.

Acting on information received, officers went to Shah Street, San Fernando, where they searched two Venezuelans who were walking along the street.

Yamil Jose Diaz, 50, of Shah Street, San Fernando/Tucupita, Venezuela was searched and officers found in his backpack a quantity of marijuana that weighed 1,028 grams.

He was arrested and charged for the offence of trafficking cannabis.

Osmer Enrique Gonzales Hernanadez, 32, also of Shah Street, San Fernando/Tucupita, Venezuela was searched and officers found on him a quantity of marijuana which weighed 541 grams.

He was arrested and charged for possession of cannabis.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Wayne Mohammad, Supt Nobbee, Asp Ali Mohammad, Insp Teeluck, supervised by Sgt Joseph, Sgt Barran and Cpl (Ag) Phoolchan.

Investigations are continuing.
