Two women among 3 held with $16k in weed

A family of three, including two women, is currently in police custody after they were held with an estimated $16,000 in drugs.

According to reports, the trio was arrested around 8am yesterday at a home along Flamingo Avenue, Couva, by a team of officers from the Northern Division Task Force.

The officers, which included Sgt Haywood, PC Brewster PC Andrews, PC Rushford and PC George, among several others, executed a search warrant at the home.

A bag containing 900 grammes of high-grade, compressed marijuana was found at the home.

As a result, the three adults, aged between 25 and 30, were all arrested.

At the time, a three-year-old child was at the home.

However, as no other relatives could be located, the child was allowed to remain with her detained relatives, until other accommodations were made later in the day.

The three adults are expected to be charged and brought before a Couva Magistrate by tomorrow.
