Uber assures insurance covers riders and third parties

Uber is clearing up misconceptions by the public regarding its insurance for passengers.

In a release, the ride-sharing company said insurance is one way it keeps its passengers safe.

"Uber Trinidad and Tobago recently renewed its insurance policy to ensure the safety of app users. Uber’s insurance policy with Guardian General Insurance Limited covers riders and third parties throughout Trinidad and Tobago who suffer losses due to an accident. For every trip with Uber, the insurance coverage in the event of an accident is for liability to protect third-parties and passengers. In addition, Uber offers Personal Accident Coverage for riders which include coverage for medical expenses, accidental death, and disability," the company said.

Uber said this coverage kicks in from the moment an Uber Driver-Partner accepts a passenger’s request for transportation and ends when the last passenger exits the vehicle.

Uber strives to make all its rides safe, reliable and efficient. This Carnival, use the Uber app and leave getting home safely to our team of trusted Uber drivers. For more information contact our Uber Partner Support Centre or contact us directly via the app."
