Chairman of the United National Congress (UNC) David Lee has applauded the efforts of Regional Corporations, the Fire and Police Services and other essential services for ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the face of adverse weather conditions associated with the movement of Tropical Storm Bret.

Lee said these individuals have demonstrated to be true heroes and urged them to continue their efforts to ensure all citizens who have been impacted by Tropical Storm Bret are assisted.

He noted that despite working well into Monday night, they are again working on Tuesday attending to the displaced.

The UNC Chairman also commended the response of commitment and the strength and determination of citizens in the face of the destruction of heavy rainfall and gusty winds overnight.

He added that it is critical that all citizens be reminded of and share these great qualities throughout all relief efforts.

“Let us as a nation keep united in our purpose and let us remain our brother’s keepers at this very tense time,” he said.

UNC MPs, councillors and constituency executives are at this time on the ground ascertaining damages and providing assistance to those affected by the storm.

“It is our sincere hope that Central Government will now respond with the same intensity and rapid manner that is critically demanded at this time as well as operate in an equitable manner in assisting all affected areas,” Lee added.
