UNC councillor: More police patrols needed

Councillor for Reform/Manahambre Chris Hosein is calling for increased police patrols in the area following the discovery of a headless body in Ste Madeleine on Thursday.

Expressing sadness over the tragedy, Hosein recalled that the dismembered and burnt body of another man was found at Black Street, Reform Village a month ago.

He believes that much more needs to be done to deal with the current state of crime in the country.

“There have been numerous calls for the Minister of National Security to take control of the matter and deal with the crime scourge but it would seem as though these cries have fallen on deaf ears.

The Government has shown a blatant lack of political will and enthusiasm to address the situation and the citizens cannot help but feel a sense of hopelessness.”

Hosein said he has been meeting with burgesses across several communities within his district in an effort to establish community watch groups.

He restated the call for increased police patrols in the Reform/Manahambre area as “the safety of my burgesses remain of utmost concern to me”.
