The United National Congress said it is aware of messages being circulated on various social media platforms encouraging certain protest actions at the Divali Nagar tomorrow. The party wishes to advise that these messages did not originate from the National Executive of the UNC or its leadership.

In a statement, the UNC said while its leader Kamla Persad Bissessar understands the frustration of the citizenry, she does not condone nor support such action and urges the public to take the high road and ensure that their voices are heard in a dignified and productive manner.

The release further noted that the Divali Nagar forms an important part of a religious celebration and should be used as time for fellowship and reflection.

“We urge everyone attending to think about how we can work together to restore light and peace to Trinidad and Tobago,” the statement said.
