The United National Congress (UNC) has announced that all campaign activities have been suspended until further notice, as a result of Tropical Storm Gonzalo’s impending passage.

In a media release this morning, Political Leader of the UNC, Kamla Persad-Bissessar urged all her charges to be on alert and prepared.

“I call upon all UNC Officials, candidates, activists, friends, families and supporters to be on alert to render any assistance which may become necessary as a result of adverse weather conditions. I also want to urge all of you to follow all safety guidelines,” she said.

Persad-Bissessar also promised that her team is prepared to lend assistance wherever necessary.

“The UNC stands ready to assist in all affected areas, as we have done on previous occasions,” she said. “In the constituencies that are not held by the UNC, we have put mechanisms in place to provide assistance where possible. It is up to each of us to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers. As we hope for the best, let us ensure that we are prepared for any eventuality. God bless Trinidad and Tobago,” she said.

Tropical Storm Gonzalo is set to impact both Trinidad and Tobago.
