Unicomer donates laptops to top SEA students
The gifts presented to SEA top performers.
The top three performers in the 2020 Secondary Entrance Assessment were given laptops by Unicomer Trinidad on Thursday.
The laptops were given to Ameerah Beekhoo of San Fernando TML, who placed first, Anjanna Dan of Trinidad Renaissance Prep, who placed second and Sushmita Ramsawak of Ghandi Memorial, who placed third.
The laptops are set to help the students, who should be matriculating into their respective secondary schools, with distance learning.
Due to COVID-19, in-person classes for the school year have been canceled and teachers are meeting with their students via online platforms. These students would have also undergone alternative learning since schools were closed in March. Managing Director of Unicomer Trinidad, Clive Fletcher said he was impressed with the way students adapted.
“I am amazed that these students were able to champion through uncertainty and excelled. Our company believes that with hard work, determination and an appetite for learning, opportunities will present themselves. We are proud to support these students by donating these laptops to support their education for higher learning,” he said.
Minister of Education, Dr Nyan Gadsby Dolly expressed gratitude for corporate Trinidad and Tobago’s help.
“We would like to thank our corporate sponsors, including Unicomer (Trinidad) Ltd for continuing to partner with us, not just for our top performers at S.E.A. but also through our other programmes and initiatives,” she said.
Online classes for form one students are scheduled to begin on October 19.
