Unidentified man found dead in Santa Cruz

The badly decomposed body of a man was found in Santa Cruz on Friday.

Up to Saturday morning, the deceased had not been identified.

Police said that around 9.40 am, officers WPC Johnson and PC Solomon were on patrol when they stopped by the Unipet gas station along the Saddle Road, Santa Cruz, to refuel their car.

While there, they were stopped by a woman who informed them that she had seen a decomposing body further along the Saddle Road, in the vicinity of the Undercover plant nurseries.

The officers responded, and they found the body of a man clad in a blue denim shirt and a pair of blue short pants.

The police were immediately notified and officials from the North Eastern Division and the Homicide Bureau, led by ASP George and Inspector Marshall, responded.

An autopsy was ordered, pending identification, to determine what the cause of death could be.
