US citizen robbed at gunpoint in Gulf City Mall carpark

A citizen of the United States, who resides here in Trinidad and Tobago, was robbed at gunpoint at Gulf City Mall on Wednesday.

The victim, a 34-year-old woman who is a financial administration officer, was at the carpark of the mall located in Gulf View when she was confronted by a man not known to her.

The incident, LoopTT was told, took place in broad daylight, around 11 am.

The man reportedly shoved a firearm into the waist of the victim and announced a holdup.

He then proceeded to rob the woman of one Guess clutch handbag valued US$100, as well as cash in the sum of TT$3,000 and US$150.

The woman was also robbed of one pair of gold hoop earrings, one gold bangle, and three gold rings together valued TT$ 4,000.

The assailant was then joined by another male individual who ordered her not to turn around.

Both suspects then escaped in an unknown direction. A statement was recorded and the US embassy was informed.
