US Embassy warns of fraudulent calls using its numbers

The US Embassy in Port of Spain is warning citizens of a scam using its telephone numbers.

The US Embassy in an advisory on Tuesday said members of the public informed the Embassy they received a call with its Port of Spain telephone number listed as the caller ID.

The caller claims to work for the US Embassy and either demands money or offers contract work.

The US Embassy categorically stated that it does not call to demand money from individuals, and follows specific protocols when tendering offers.

The Embassy is advising persons to report the matter to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s Fraud Squad, should they receive a fraudulent call.
