US soldier charged for possession of a firearm

A soldier from the United States of America appeared yesterday before a Port of Spain Magistrate on firearm possession charges. 

Emmanuel Dennis, 28, of Brooklyn in New York, appeared before magistrate Aden Stroude yesterday morning. 

He was charged with possession of a pistol and possession of ammunition. 

Dennis was held on Sunday in the vicinity of O2 Park in Chaguaramas during a police exercise. 

Dennis, who is enlisted in the US Navy, was granted $600,000 bail. 

He was represented by attorneys Criston J Williams and Richard Clarke-Wills. 

After further submissions, the matter was adjourned to April 13.
