Venezuelan women among 30 held in Valencia
Thirty persons were arrested over a seven-day period in the Eastern Division during various police exercises in the district.
Among these persons included seven Venezuelan women – including two minors – who were found in a house in Vega de Oropouche, Valencia.
The women, said to be between the ages of 16 and 44, were detained and handed over to immigration officials after they were found in the house and were unable to provide any travel documents or proof of legal entry into this country.
The other 27 persons held during these exercises were arrested for a variety of offences including shooting with intent, firearm possession, ammunition possession, and marijuana possession.
The exercises are part of the division’s continuing commitment to the fight against crime and were coordinated by Snr Sup Garth Nelson, who is the head of the district.
Similar exercises are expected to take place over the coming days.
